Moduli of v-vector bundles

Objective

This project builds on very recent advances in p-adic cohomology theories to devise novel approaches to fundamental questions about the arithmetic algebraic geometry of varieties over p-adic fields.

Our key object of study are v-vector bundles, which are emerging as a new category of coefficients of central importance to p-adic Hodge theory. They have already played a pivotal role in my recent proof of the p-adic Simpson correspondence in higher dimension, as well as its new geometric formulation in terms of moduli spaces.

Based on these foundations, this project aims to establish the analytic moduli space of v-vector bundles vBun as a powerful new tool of non-abelian Hodge theory by uncovering deep relations between vBun and several important research programs in geometry, representation theory and number theory:

1) I propose that the derived category of quasi-coherent sheaves on vBun will give rise to a novel p-adic Geometric Langlands Correspondence, constituting an entirely new p-adic aspect of this very active research program. I aim to prove first instances of this correspondence and to demonstrate that it can provide a blueprint for the nascent categorification of the p-adic Local Langlands Program in the spirit of Fargues--Scholze.

2) I propose that the deformation theory of vBun will lead to a new non-abelian de Rham comparison theorem, namely a p-adic Riemann--Hilbert correspondence formulated in terms of moduli spaces. This would provide not only a vast generalization but also a geometrisation of the celebrated work of Liu--Zhu.

3) I propose that the Galois action on vBun holds the key to a completely new moduli-theoretic approach to Grothendieck's anabelian geometry in characteristic 0: The moduli space of v-vector bundles forges a relation between p-adic character varieties and the Hitchin fibration which has the potential for very exciting applications to longstanding open problems in anabelian geometry.
